In Austria, care homes and seniors' residences look after care-dependent, vulnerable people who need continuous support. To keep them safe, these facilities rely on nursing-assistant staff trained in first aid and life-saving emergency measures.
适用场所
Pflegeheim and Senioren-/Altenwohnheim (care home / seniors' residence); the frontline staff are nursing assistants (Pflegeassistenz), whose one-year training is regulated under the GuKG.
急救要求
The state-regulated Pflegeassistenz training (1 year, GuKG) requires the ability to give first aid and take life-saving emergency measures — chest compressions, ventilation and defibrillator use — so that care-home staff can intervene immediately in an emergency.
A recognized, up-to-date first-aid or resuscitation certificate is the way to meet this requirement; it is in addition to the staff's occupational training and must be refreshed regularly.
